However, the off-the-court troubles of West made him lose his chance to be one of the best in the premier basketball league in the planet today. Recently, West was waived by the Minnesota Timberwolves and was suspended by the NBA to 10 games on weapons charges in the state of Maryland. With his latest off-the court trouble, the NBA career of west is put into jeopardy as some NBA teams are not anymore interested to get his services. When West hopes to play in the NBA starts to fade, the Boston Celtics who drafted him as 24th over-all pick in 2004 came knocking his door and re-acquire his services for two more years.

Celtics basketball operations manager Danny Ainge has confirmed that the team has signed West to a two-year veteran's minimum deal.
